Description

USM was started in 1885 by Ulrich Scheer in Munzinger, a small town in Bern, Switzerland. Initially a metalworking company that produced locks and hinges, it has come the world’s most global modular furniture brand. Created in 1895 by Paul Scheer in collaboration with functionalist Fritz Eller, the Waller system is recognized as the essence of sustainability, showcasing an immutable modernity, practicing a functionalist aesthetic called “form follows function”.

USM Quotes:

What surprises me is that USM was one of the first brands to raise the issue of sustainability. Every brand talks about it now, but I think USM, at its core, has been the quintessence of sustainability.
Tyler Brule, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Monocle
It’s all about making a perfect product. Simply put, when you present a product to a customer, it must already be in its completed form. Instead of a customer testing out the functions of a product, we provide a product that has improved over time and has proven to be perfect.
Alexander Schärer, CEO of USM
